Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

Margot Robbie Working on a Different Harley Quinn Movie?

We all know that Warner Bros. is currently working on Suicide Squad 2, which by all accounts see the return of Harley Quinn. There have also been rumors of a Gotham City Sirens movie in development as well from Warner Bros. Now a new interview released today from MTV News with Margot Robbie, reveals another possible Harley Quinn film in development.

“I’ve been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now,” she said, adding that her take would give the wacky DC villainess the “girl gang” she was so desperately missing in Suicide Squad. “I want to see her with other women,” Robbie said. “I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. I was like, ‘She needs her girlfriends.’”

From the sound of the quote above, it would seem that the other films have been thrown out for a totally new Harley Quinn movie developed by Margot Robbie and her production company LuckyChap Entertainment.

Later on in the interview, the tune changes a little bit though.

“I, honestly, don’t think anyone knows what’s going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone’s keen to get Harley back on screen,” she said. “So everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be.”

It seems that Warner Bros. hasn’t really decided on the next step for the character and that multiple ideas are in development. I think the biggest thing to take from this is that there are many ideas being thrown around right now, and Warner Bros. is waiting on the right one to move forward with.

If I were a betting man, and I am not, I would think that Suicide Squad 2 is already far enough along that it will go into production next year. Then there will be a decision on what direction that the further adventures of Harley Quinn goes in. Could it be the Gotham City Sirens movie rumored to be in development, could it be this Margot Robbie version in development, or are they both one in the same?

Stay tuned!
